The 2014 Progressive Insurance® Chicago Boat, Sports & RV Show®Chicago’s Favorite Winter Boating & Outdoors Event Brings Newest Yachts, Family Cruisers, RVs, Summer Fun & Pirates to the Windy City, January 16-20, 2014 returns January 16-20, 2014, over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, transforming McCormick Place into an outdoor paradise, offering visitors a one-stop shop with big bargains on hundreds of new boats, RVs, marine accessories, camping equipment and travel destinations, plus fun attractions for all ages including the new Gypsy Rose III, a life-size pirate ship and a chance to get on the water indoors.

2014 show highlights include:

  • Discover Pirate’s Booty! The Gypsy Rose III pirate ship has blown into the Windy City offering pirates young and old a chance to play dress up, find buried treasure and even shoot a cannon.
  • Dive into SCUBA. Adults and kids ages 10 and up can learn to scuba dive for free at the “Be a Diver” Pool. Expert instructors are on hand to give group lessons in a heated pool, and visitors can get a picture taken underwater.
  • Fun for kids includes casting a line at the Huck Finn Trout pond, rolling away on the water at Rockin’ Rollin’ Bubbles (similar to a hamster wheel on water), or getting up close and personal with Miss GEICO, one of the world’s fastest racing boats weighing in at 10,000 pounds.
  • Boating 101 and DIY Fun: The new and improved Discover Boating, Welcome to the Water Center provides show goers a chance to try out boating on dry land with a virtual boat simulator, in addition to daily seminars for boaters of all levels of experience. Fred’s Shed gives DIY lovers a garage-like atmosphere to sharpen their skills with an array of seminars on boat repair and maintenance.
  • RV Classroom: Don’t miss out on a complete line-up of seminars for beginning to advanced RV enthusiasts. Check the website for seminar details and schedules.
  • Try paddle sports, indoors! Paddlefest addresses everything about the world of paddle sports from kayaking to Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) with daily clinics and on-water demonstrations.
