The count-down to the 25th Annual Lake Havasu Boat Show, presented Frontier Communications and Mohave State Bank, has begun.  This year, the Lake Havasu Boat Show has something special to celebrate…..its “Silver Anniversary”.  “This is quite a milestone for our Boat Show,” commented Jim Salscheider, president and CEO of the Lake Havasu Marine Association.  This show was originally founded by our organization for the local marine related dealers, boat manufacturers and service shops in our immediate area.  But now, after 25 years, the Lake Havasu Boat Show has grown to become the largest consumer boat show in Arizona and Nevada.  That’s quite an achievement for our association.”

The 25th Annual Lake Havasu Boat Show opens on Friday, April 8 and runs through Sunday, April 10 at Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor 4 on London Bridge Road.   The Boat Show will host over 120 exhibitors and more than sixty national brands of boats ranging from pontoons and family runabouts to fishing boats, wakeboard/ski boats and the largest selection of performance sportboats west of Miami.  More than 9,000 people attended the 2015 show.

But Lake Havasu Boat Show attendees will have even more to look forward to on April 8-10. The Boat Show will again play host to the 4th Annual International Chili Society chili and salsa cook-off competition sponsored by Havasu Regional Medical Center on Saturday open to all chefs. The chili and salsa contest, also one of the largest competitions of its type in the Southwest with more than fifty chefs/teams vying for over $5,000 in cash prizes.  In addition, all proceeds from the chili cook-off  go to benefit the Lake Havasu High School Athletic Booster Club

Then on Sunday, get ready for “Family Fun Day” at the Boat Show. “Family Fun Day” will be highlighted by a People’s Choice chili cook-off, a host of carnival games and activities for the entire family, plus tasty fair-food favorites like hot dogs, cotton candy, and kettle corn.  All proceeds from “Family Fun Day” also go support the Lake Havasu High School Athletic Booster Club.

Also returning this year to the Boat Show are three additional special events…..the Gary Hart Memorial IJSBA Jettribe PWC WaterCross Race (Saturday and Sunday) featuring over 150 of the fastest personal watercraft racers in the country hitting speeds up to 70 miles an hour around a challenging motocross style race course.  Competition begins on Saturday and Sunday at 9am.  For those who fancy themselves expert “Cornhole“ players, there will be the 2nd Annual Lake Havasu “Cornhole” Championships at the boat show (Saturday and Sunday) with classes for all ages, both singles and doubles/teams.  And if you have an old worn-out lifejacket, this is your chance to get a brand new one for free during the “Lifejacket Swap” on Saturday compliments of Arizona Game and Fish Department (while supply lasts).

So, who’s ready to party? Opening day at the Boat Show, Friday, April 8, it’s going to be a blast and everyone is invited – it’s Boat Show Beach Bash 2016!  When the Boat Show closes at 6:00pm, we’re just getting started!  It’s time for “happy hour” cocktails, beer, food and some great classic rock live music down on the Windsor 4 greenbelt grass.  And here’s the best part – when you buy an admission ticket to come to the Boat Show on Friday, the afterhours “Beach Bash” is free!  Just show your admission ticket or exhibitor badge – there’s no extra charge.  If you don’t have a ticket or a badge, that’s okay too – just a nominal $2.00 cover charge per person gets you in for all the beverages, food, music and fun.

Boat show hours are:  Friday, April 8 from noon to 6pm (with Boat Show Beach Bash immediately after), Saturday, April 9 from  9am to 6pm and Sunday, April 10 from 9am to 3pm.  Admission is $5.00 for adults and kids 6 and under are free.  Parking is also free.  Food courts and two beer gardens will also be open to serve visitors.  For those interested in buying a new boat, boat demos are available on a by appointment basis immediately following the boat show on Sunday afternoon and all day on Monday, April 11.
